Sassy Stir Fry

Morning all, Do you stir fry at home? It's a great way to enjoy the wonderful Asian flavors without all the MSG and heavy oil used in restaurants. Plus, it's another great option for customizing your meal to your palate, tastes and textures. You can try Beef and Broccoli, Chicken with Onions, Carrots and Bell Pepper, Shrimp and Green Beans, Pork and Mushrooms, anything you like including Tofu if you're a vegetarian! ...I always stir fry the vegetables first, remove to a bowl, then add the meat (marinate it in the sauce first and save remaining sauce), then add the veggies back in, finish with remaining sauce. Spice it up with a little crushed red pepper, and finish with Sriracha - if you like the heat. My favorite stir fry sauce is brown sauce:, it is basically a mixture of cornstarch - just a couple tablespoons, Toasted sesame oil couple teaspoons, Sherry (real sherry not sherry vinegar) 2 tablespoons, brown sugar 2 tablespoons, chicken broth maybe 1/2 cup, rice wine vinegar 2 teaspoons, soy sauce maybe 1/4 cup, garlic powder tsp, ground ginger tsp, and ground mustard tsp....this yields a nice, savory sauce that thickens up perfectly and gives that lovely shine at the end- serve over brown rice... - please keep in mind my measurements are loose because I don't actually measure. Just mix it up and play around :) As long as you're having fun in the kitchen you can be a little free with cooking. It's baking that requires measuring. So for all you cooks out there, amateur or not, just get in there and create something! Bon Appetit~
